MBA International has officially received its 5-year re-accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading international accreditation bodies for postgraduate management education, providing independent recognition of the programme’s sustained quality and commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

Accreditation from AMBA represents the highest standard of achievement in postgraduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only high-calibre programmes meeting the highest standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction achieve AMBA accreditation.

During the accreditation process, the AMBA peer review panel, comprising senior academics and leaders from international business schools, highlighted several areas of particular strength. It commended the international standard, relevance and exemplary quality of the faculty’s research, the strong collegiality among faculty and staff, and the MBA International’s induction experience. The panel also recognised the programme’s growing international reach, supported by international collaborations, faculty and guest speakers from abroad, and its network of International Alumni Ambassadors. It particularly praised the MBA International’s strong gender balance as a role model for other programmes. Finally, the panel recognised the strong, continuing reputation of AUEB and the MBA International among key stakeholders, as well as their significant impact in Greece and the wider region.

The five-year re-accreditation reflects a collective achievement as well as the MBA International’s continued evolution and ambition.

Dr. Ioannis Nikolaou, Professor and Chair of the Department of Management Science and Technology (DMST), the managing department for MBA International, said: “The five-year AMBA re-accreditation is an important international recognition of the sustained quality and development of the MBA International. It also reflects the strength of collaboration across AUEB’s business departments and the commitment of the faculty and colleagues who contribute to the programme. We are particularly proud to see this collective effort recognised against the highest international standards of management education”.

Professor Eric Soderquist, Director of MBA International, said: “For the MBA International, AMBA has been much more than an accreditation body. Since our initial accreditation in 2005, we have benefited from successive peer reviews, each providing an important external perspective on how the program is evolving and where we should continue to raise our ambitions. This five-year re-accreditation is therefore both a recognition of what we have achieved and an impetus to keep moving forward.
It reinforces the direction we have pursued: an increasingly international and technology-informed MBA, firmly connected to business and designed around an immersive and collaborative learning experience. Our ambition is to equip our students not only with strong management capabilities, but with the ability to navigate change, harness technology and innovation, and create meaningful value for their organizations and society.
What makes this achievement particularly meaningful is that it is genuinely collective. The MBA International draws its strength from faculty and colleagues across AUEB’s business departments and from the active involvement of our students, alumni, and corporate community. I am especially grateful to the members of our Interdepartmental Program Steering Committee and to everyone who contributes to the program’s continued development.”

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA), said: “We are delighted the Athens University of Economics and Business, Department of Management Science and Technology has achieved AMBA accreditation. This achievement reflects the Department’s commitment to delivering high-quality management education that responds to the evolving needs of business and society. The panel was particularly impressed by the international standard of the faculty’s research and the commitment to gender balance within its MBA International programme. We look forward to supporting the Department as part of our global community of leading business schools”.

The re-accreditation also brings direct benefits to the i-MBA community. All current i-MBA students and recent alumni are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of more than 80,000 students and alumni across more than 150 countries, free of charge, with access to international networking, thought leadership, career development opportunities, and other member benefits.
