At a time where business functions, operational practices and technology are experiencing constant change, diversification and improvement, the coupling of academic knowledge, practical expertise and solid methodologies to tackle real business problems becomes an undeniable necessity. Furthermore, graduate business education is a pivotal node in today’s business environment, especially if it provides the means for achieving direct interaction between providers and facilitators of knowledge (in the academic institutions) and practitioners of management (in the enterprises).
The Field Study Project of AUEB’s MBA International Program is the capstone requirement of the program. It brings together teams of participants that have completed their extensive course work (covering all aspects of modern strategies, tactics and operational tools for business improvement and competitiveness enhancement) with forward-looking companies and organizations – the FSP Partner Organizations – from Greek and International business in order to solve real business problems that the companies face. The Partner Organization representatives, the graduate students and the program faculty collaborate in selecting, formulating, structuring, executing and reporting on field study projects for mutual benefit and enrichment. They are formulated with coherent objectives, account for all practical constraints, and are structured based on well-defined time frames and pre-agreed deliverables. The studies are executed utilizing the latest tools and methodologies, and their results are reported through the master’s thesis of the students and professionally written managerial reports. Since 1999 more than 300 companies have been benefiting from this University-Industry collaboration program.
